Meet Taylor Parsons, DBA Solstice Artworks
Born in Atlanta, Georgia in a military family and raised in Hampton Roads of VA, the visual and performing arts became an essential part of her life. She grew up a creative, dabbling in pencil works, watercolor, and occasionally paint, and spent her free time browsing the Chrysler Museum's galleries when she could. As a teen, her focuses lied more on her schooling and various extracurriculars, but she kept up with art as a hobby, not thinking it would go anywhere.
Fresh out of high school, she started at the illustrious Norfolk State University as a business management major with a minor in finance. She did well, but it didn't feel like she was supposed to be in that program. After some careful thought and consideration, (and unexpected advice from her now fiancé), she changed her major to Fine Arts and never looked back. Originally a graphite artist, her department head realized she was a strong painter and pushed her to develop those skills.
What once was a thorn in her side, acrylic paint became her favorite medium. She leaned into portraiture, specifially celebrity portraiture, sharing her works in local shows, on various social media pages, and particularly X.com (formerly known as Twitter). Consistency in posting and marketing her portraits drew the attention of recording artists and their teams such as Monaleo, Chloe Bailey, Anycia, and prompted the opportunity to create a gifted birthday billboard for Megan Thee Stallion. Now, she teaches guided painting and glass blowing classes while working as a full time painter, working with clients year-round to deliver masterpieces.
